The issue of used games and game sharing is a big one in the gaming industry these days. This current lawsuit is being carefully watched by Microsoft and Sony, because it could actually provide the means for them to lock a game onto a console (i.e: if you buy a game for the next generation Sony/Microsoft console, you will only be able to play it on your own console, and not your friend's or anyone else's).
VZBV, a German organization, is not happy with Steam's end user agreement, where it states that you are not allow to share certain games and some games are not trade-able. As you are all aware of by now, steam games are locked onto an individuals account, and VZBV is not happy with that (as with many). Now the article I've posted here is merely a summary, click here to go to the source and read the entire thing in detail.
